The Brown University Research Initiative For :

Participatory Action, Voting, Education, & Democracy

Our Mission:

Empower.

PAVED Research develops and evaluates initiatives that use democratic innovation strategies to advance educational equity and racial justice.

Our Vision

We envision a society that realizes the fullest meaning of democracy. We work towards ensuring that members of low-income racially marginalized communities no longer face barriers to democratic participation. Our goal is to help redesign systems so that the most vulnerable have meaningful say in collective efforts that foster changes in education policy and related social policy areas in route to community improvement.

Our Projects

We are working towards a society in which community members empower one another in decision-making practices to realize the fullest meaning of democracy and democratic participation. Through our projects we are able to study and support democratic initiatives that empower community leaders to voice innovative approaches to educational equity and racial justice.
